Do you want to learn DJing, computer based music production, audio electronics and sound composition?
The department of Music and Drama at the University of Huddersfield, in partnership with Yorkshire Sound Women Network is offering a six-weekend series of free workshops for girls and young women* in Kirklees between the ages of 11 and and 18 – visit the Go Compose website to see the full list.
* We welcome cis- and transgender young women and girls, as well as gender non-binary/non-conforming young people.
The workshops will be delivered by experienced and DBS-certified practitioners and educators. No prior experience is necessary and we encourage participants to attend all days.
For ages 16-18
Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 July, 10am-3pm, Richard Steinitz Building, University of Huddersfield
Monday 8 July, 1pm-8pm, Small Seeds, Huddersfield (sound check and practice from 1pm, performance starts 6pm)
Learn how to mix and DJ your favourite songs on this three-day DJing course!
Discover how to work with different styles and tempos of a range of songs, from R&B to house, and practise on professional equipment to create your own playlist/mini-mix.
At the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to perform a short DJ set for your friends at Small Seeds, a music venue in Huddersfield. This will be a relaxed and fun experience designed to give you a realistic experience of DJing.

• Study the technicalities of beat matching and BPMs
• Learn about different genres of music and considerations for DJing
• Learn about how the DJ industry works
• Learn about self-promotion and marketing within the music industry
Workshop leader info:
Angel Lee is a DJ based in Leeds. She has held residencies all over the city, including Mission, Revolution and Angelica and has a passion for music of all genres. She has been a full-time DJ for more than 10 years.
