Event details/activities:
This month we’re planning to go on a short soundwalk around Huddersfield, starting and finishing in the Creative Arts Building atrium. The walk will be less than a mile and take in various spots around the town centre and its periphery. There may be some stairs involved so if this presents an access issue for you, let us know and the route can be adjusted accordingly.
Feel welcome to bring handheld recording devices, microphones etc. However, the main plan for the walk is that we instead concentrate on listening and ‘recording’ the walk on paper, by each writing down (or drawing if you prefer!) descriptions of what we hear.
The walk should take around an hour and we’ll then return to the CAB, where we can share refreshments and consider the sounds we have ‘collected’ and what we noticed about them.
Wet weather plan: as above but staying on the UoH campus, mainly indoors.

Yorkshire Sound Women Network (YSWN) are proud to be hosting this series of social events in Huddersfield.

These events are open to all women and girls, and we are transwomen and non-binary inclusive – come along to meet new people and talk about sound and music technology in an informal setting.

There is no pressure to share work with the group, but if there is something you would like to bring along for people to look at/listen to you are more than welcome.

We have access to speakers and a projector, but if you require any other equipment please let us know and we will do our best to provide it. Please do bring a little donation for tea, coffee and cake while we talk!

If you have any accessibility requirements please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate these.

For any further queries about these events please contact us by email on

Alternatively you can join in through our YSWN facebook group.
