– Thursday 7th September 2017
– Time: 6.30 – 8.30 pm
– Venue: DINA Gallery & Cafe, 32 Cambridge Street, Sheffield, S1 4HP
We welcomed some regulars and some faces we haven’t seen in a while. We did introductions and a good round of updates; every month we learn more about one another and our experiences, and it’s fun to hear how current projects are developing.
We also learnt about the unexpected benefits of stickering by sharing stories about where our stickers have taken us and what we found by stickering!
Deborah performed a beautiful graphic score she drew in response to our MONTH project theme of TRAVEL. Next MONTH we are focussing on LISTENING – if you want to take part all you need to do is gather some information about LISTENING (for example, maybe all the podcasts you listen to in a month) and use this as the basis or inspiration to create a short piece of sound.
Amy talked about the work she has done with people with hearing impairments, and we listened to some processed sound simulations demonstrating the loss of sound detail suffered by cochlear implant users.
We also talked about upcoming gigs and events, including Synthfest in Sheffield and Emily J having several shows in Germany.
Don’t forget, you can ask to join our Sheffield YSWN Facebook group or Sheffield YSWN Google group. You can also read more about our series of workshops which took place in Sheffield as part of Catalyst:Festival of Creativity.
