Hebden Bridge
Launch Event of ‘The Valley’: a Calderdale Sound Women Network project supporting new music by women in the Calder Valley.
The evening will feature new work by Pam Hulme. Pam Hulme is a composer, organist and conductor based in Berlin and Yorkshire (UK). Her work extends the possibilities of acoustic instruments using aspects of electronic and urban music. Pam often works with organ and live-looping, composing fixed works, as well as improvising and remixing classical organ repertoire.
Magpahi is the solo project of Alison Cooper (Todmorden) whose work has ebbed and flowed in the fringes of folk for a decade playing whimsical acoustics and sepia stories inspired by absent narratives of the past
Jo Kennedy is a field recordist and an electronic music composer. Jo will be presenting new work exploring found sound and manipulation.
There will also be a talk given by Sophie Cooper about women making music in the Upper Calder Valley and a launch of an open call for new works project delivered by the Calderdale Sound Women Network.
Refreshments available. Presented in collaboration with the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival.
