YSWN will be hosting its next Level Up! in Sound for Media event in partnership with the  National Science and Media Museum, Bradford.

Join YSWN for another inspiring and empowering day of hands-on practical workshops, career talks and panel discussions with industry sound professionals, plus opportunities to visit exhibitions and see behind the scenes at the museum. This time we’ll be focussing on producing sound for the moving image.

Aimed at all women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people with an interest in sound for media, highlights include:

  • Tours of the National Science & Media Museum’s Stores – see some fascinating objects from the Sound Technologies collection that aren’t currently displayed
  • Career presentations by those working in the TV & film industry
  • Location Recording workshops with Laura Clough
  • Opportunity to collaborate and perform an improvised score for film
  • A chance to visit Above the Noise and other current exhibitions at the Museum including the interactive light and sound gallery WonderLab
  • Networking opportunities to make new contacts and explore the difference you can make

YSWN is offering travel bursaries of up to £40 each to support costs for attendees to attend and take part. Contact for further information and to apply for a bursary.

We are also thrilled to invite attendees to attend our evening event ‘In Conversation…with Paula Fairfield and Onnalee Blank‘, and YSWN Annual Review at 6.00pm – please note that you must register for a separate free ticket to attend the evening event here.

YSWN Level Up! is funded by Kirklees Council via the Leeds City Region Business Rates Pool, and delivered in partnership with the National Science and Media Museum, Bradford.
