2021
Part of YSWN’s plan to adapt and evolve in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Audio Club is a new podcast series where host Caro C and guests chat about music technology – sharing creative inspiration, gear tips, careers advice and more.
Running for an initial series of eight episodes throughout 2021, the podcast aims to raise the profile of women and gender minority audio professionals – particularly those engaged as freelance YSWN Associates – and reach new audiences while demystifying many aspects of working with sound.
Each episode, Caro interviews two guests, discussing a variety of music technology and audio industry topics in a friendly, informed and inclusive way. Whatever your level of experience or knowledge, you’re welcome to join Audio Club! Topics covered so far include field and location recording, making your own kit, choosing the right music production software and promoting your work to a wider audience.
As well as an experienced podcast host, Caro C is a composer, producer, performer and educator in electronic sound. She is the founder of Delia Derbyshire Day, a charity celebrating the Radiophonic Workshop pioneer through events, education and art.
Audio Club’s guests are mostly drawn from YSWN’s pool of freelance Associates and to date have included location recordist Laura Clough, sound artist Hayley Suviste, DJ/producer Angel Lee, musician and educator Emily J Electric, electronic engineer and social entrepreneur Ann Fomukong-Boden and multimedia artist Cat Scott. The podcast is also entirely produced, edited and has theme music composed by members of the YSWN community.
