Sarah Angliss: Artist talk

The fourth of YSWN’s online seminar series Level Up in Audio featuring artists and audio professionals sharing their practice and insight.

On 26 March 2021 London-based composer, performer and robotics artist Sarah Angliss talked about her unique and varied creative career. Reflecting the range, wit and thought-provoking approaches found in her work, her talk takes in an inspiring early encounter with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop that set her on a path demanding both innovation and perseverence, her work designing an immersive sound environment for a Cold War-era submarine and her recent score using eerie vocal manipulations for the horror film Amulet.

We encountered a few technical difficulties during this seminar, so the last part of the talk has been replaced by a section Sarah recorded specially after the event that continues the material she shared up until that point.

The seminar was the fourth of 12 online events featuring musical artists and audio professionals running throughout 2021 as part of Level Up In Audio. This YSWN project aims to inspire, grow and sustain the skills and creative opportunities of women and people of minority genders who have an interest in music and technology and whose work and professional development have been curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic.
