Why we’re launching a new accreditation scheme to support a more inclusive audio industry.
Our mission here at YSWN is to create and support a more inclusive music industry, one that welcomes, encourages and progresses the inclusion of women and people of minority genders at all levels from studio floor to board room. To support this ambition, we’ve created Volume Up.
Volume Up is YSWN’s audio equity standard, enabling sound and technology businesses of all sizes to demonstrate their commitment towards a fairer, more inclusive industry. We know that organisations with a diverse workforce and ethical practices benefit creatively and financially from new talent and ideas, as well as retaining staff and reaching new client bases.
Volume Up: YSWN’s Audio Equity Standard offers a framework for businesses to structure their approach to supporting women and people of minority genders in sound. The standard recognises actions rather than just words and written policies – supporting the industry to make tangible, long-lasting changes in areas such as recruitment, professional development, workspace culture and marketing.
Those who meet the Volume Up criteria will be able to display the Volume Up logo on their website and publicity materials and will be listed on YSWN’s website as an industry supporter. Once awarded, the standard lasts for two years and can be renewed.
Find out more about how your organisation can apply for the Volume Up standard here or email info@yorkshiresoundwomen.com for information. Application fees vary according to organisation turnover and can also be included as part of a package alongside our Gender Diversity and Inclusion training.
