Wakey wakey – it’s time for WIRED!

Ever wanted to have a go at recording your own song? Or learn how to mix tracks?

Our WIRED Music Technology Club for Girls is back, and if you are or know someone living in Wakefield who’d like to join in, it’s time to sign up!

Open to girls, young women and minority gender young people aged 11–18, the free weekly sessions start on Wednesday 18 May. Led by experienced musicians using industry-standard music technology equipment and programmes, the fun, hands-on workshops offer participants the chance to:

• Record and produce music
• Set up and use different equipment like microphones and pedals
• Use computer software to create beats, baselines and melodies
• Play with resonant frequencies, white noise and reverb techniques
• Explore analogue and digital synthesizers
• Learn about potential careers in the audio and music industry

Wednesday 18 May and weekly until Wednesday 20 July (no session on 1 June)
6pm–7.30pm
Manygates Centre, 24-26 Manygates Lane, Wakefield WF2 7DQ
Plus: Saturday 16 July 10am-4pm at an additional venue to be announced

We welcome all girls, young women, non-binary people and other marginalised genders aged 11-18 years old with different levels of music and/or technology experience. It’s free to take part, no prior experience is necessary and you don’t have to be able to play a musical instrument. We do ask that you commit to attending all of the workshops.
